Great Plains Operating LLC was formed in September 2007 as a Limited Liability Company, with Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors L.P., to drill and develop natural gas reserves in the Texas Panhandle region, focusing on the Granite Wash, and other plays that are favorable for horizontal drilling. Great Plains has expanded its areas of interest to include the Appalachian Basin and the Marcellus Shale play. Great Plains has recently entered into a joint venture agreement with Endless Mountain Energy, Middleton PA to develop leased acreage in the northern tier counties of central Pennsylvania.
The Great Plains principals have worked together successfully as a technical team since 2002 at two former private equity companies successfully adding value to these organizations as both employees and equity partners. Their horizontal drilling experience includes nearly 40 successful horizontal well bores in 3 geologic basins including the Anadarko, Williston, and Ft. Worth basins. The Great Plains principals were instrumental in the successful planning and execution of the first successful horizontal Granite Wash well at the Lard Ranch Field, located in Roberts County Texas, in the Anadarko Basin. Due to their initiative and successful implementation of these methods and procedures, the horizontal Granite Wash play has become one of the most economically viable plays in the United States today.
The Great Plains team has over 80 years of combined industry experience in drilling and production operations, reservoir evaluation, development and exploration geology, contract negotiations, land acquisition and management. The Great Plains management team continues to search for viable acquisitions, and drilling opportunities within these areas of interest utilizing sound technical risk assessment, effective and fair land negotiations, and execution of safe drilling, completion, and production operations. Our goal is to ensure the continuous growth of our organization and to deliver a solid rate of return on our investment.
